REAL MADRID WILL BEGIN THEIR SEASON AGAINST ALMERIA

Almeria will face a baptism of fire when they return to La Liga on Sunday, when reigning champions Real Madrid visit the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos. The hosts won the Segunda Division last season to return to the top flight, while Carlo Ancelotti's side conquered both Spain and Europe. Fourth place in 2019–20 did not cut it, and the same position in 2020–21 was only good enough to be knocked out by Girona in the promotion playoffs, but Almeria's place in the top tier for the upcoming season could not be denied this time. Under Rubi's guidance, Almeria finished first in the 2021–22 Segunda Division with 81 points, but they only beat Real Valladolid on goal difference and were only one point ahead of Eibar in a tight promotion race. La Union spent seven consecutive seasons in the Segunda Division's doldrums and even flirted with relegation on a couple of occasions, but this weekend's hosts are now preparing for relegation. CHELSEA WILL PLAY TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR AT HOME FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS 2022/2023 SEASON

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur meet at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, looking to build on their first weekend victories in the Premier League. Spurs easily defeated Southampton, 4-1, before Chelsea won a close game away at Everton later in the day. Chelsea were vulnerable as they faced Everton at Goodison Park, with the club still looking to move players in and out. Nonetheless, Thomas Tuchel's team prevailed by a 1-0 score, with Jorginho scoring the game's only goal from the penalty spot. There were aspects of Chelsea's performance that would have disappointed their manager, but this was a game where only the final result mattered as Chelsea sought to maintain their lead in the title race. Aside from Marc Cucurella being given a full week with his new teammates, little has changed in terms of new arrivals ahead of this London derby. That said, Tuchel will expect a far more efficient display from his team, who will be aware that they have to develop a ruthless streak

FC BARCELONA'S SEASON WILL BEGIN AGAINST RAYO VALLECANO.

Last season, the Catalan giants finished second in the table, 13 points behind champions Real Madrid, while Rayo impressed on their return to Spain's top flight from the Segunda Division, finishing 13th.   Barcelona failed to win a trophy in the 2021–22 season, but the club will be expected to challenge for major silverware this season, especially given their summer business, with a number of statement signings arriving despite the club's ongoing financial problems. Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, and Jules Kounde have all arrived to bolster the squad, while it is believed that Chelsea's Marcos Alonso and Manchester City's Bernardo Silva are still on the club's radar, making it an even more unusual window for the club. However, there has been a lot of nervousness, concern, and pessimism among fans in the last week or so as Barcelona struggled to register their new signings due to their bloated wage bill. However, late Friday night

BRENTFORD FACES MANCHESTER UNITED.

Manchester United will look to bounce back from their opening-weekend defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion when they face Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday. Last Sunday, the Red Devils were defeated 2-1 at home by the Seagulls, while Brentford came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Leicester City in their season opener. Last weekend, Brentford appeared to be heading for defeat at the King Power Stadium, with Timothy Castagne and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall on the scoresheet for Leicester, who led 2-0 in the 46th minute, but Ivan Toney halved the deficit just past the hour before Josh Dasilva equalised late for the Bees. Thomas Frank's team will now play their first home game of the season, while the rest of the month will see them face Fulham, Everton, and Crystal Palace in the Premier League, as well as Colchester United in the EFL Cup. Brentford were active in the summer transfer market, bringing in Keane Lewis-Potter, Aaron Hickey, Mikkel Damsgaard, Thomas Strakosha,

REAL MADRID FACES FRANKFURT IN THE UEFA SUPER CUP

The 47th edition of the UEFA Super Cup pits Europe's most successful club against a team competing for the first time for this trophy. Vincius Jnior scored the only goal as Real Madrid defeated Liverpool at the Stade de France in May. Los Blancos won their 14th Champions League title, with five of them coming in the last nine seasons. It capped off a historic season for Carlo Ancelotti's side, which had also reclaimed La Liga and defeated Barcelona in the Supercopa de Espaa Final. Real have only won La Liga, the European Cup, and another trophy in the same season three times before, in 1957 and 2017. The summer signings, Antonio Rüdiger and Aurélien Tchouaméni, are set to make their debuts at Helsinki Olympic Stadium, hoping to bring the Spanish giants their first silverware. Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt won their first major European trophy since 1980 at the end of last season. The Eagles won the Europa League on penalties after defeating Olympiacos, Real Betis, Barcelona,

THE JOAN GAMPER TROPHY PITS FC BARCELONA AGAINST PUMAS UNAM.

The Joan Gamper Trophy, also known as the Joan Gamper Cup, was established in 1966, with the Blaugrana inviting Anderlecht from Belgium, Nantes from France, and Koln from Germany to the inaugural event. It had four participants until 1997 Barcelona and three other invitees and consisted of two semi-final ties, a third-place playoff, and a final. The Blaugrana won their first championship, defeating Cologne 3-1 in the final. Due to an increased fixture list, the Joan Gamper Trophy underwent changes in 1997, abandoning the previous format in favour of a one-off match style. Furthermore, there is no extra time in the competition, with a penalty shoot-out deciding the winner if the game is tied after 90 minutes. This tournament has drawn teams from all over the world, including fellow Spanish powerhouses Atletico Madrid and Valencia, as well as South American behemoths Boca Juniors, River Plate, and Santos. In 2017, Barcelona invited Chapecoense to the 52nd Joan Gamper Trophy to pay t
