Fabrizio Romano confirms that, after months of
rumours, chatter, and speculation, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have finally
agreed on a deal for Robert Lewandowski's transfer.
Barcelona have been monitoring the 33-year-old
striker for months, and Poland's captain is also looking for a new challenge in
his career. Personal terms had been agreed upon months ago between the striker
and Barça, but an agreement with Bayern Munich had been missing as the German
champions insisted that the ace goalscorer was not for sale. After rejecting
three previous bids, the Bavarian giants have recently begun to warm up to the
deal and have decided to accept Barça's latest offer.
The deal is worth €50 million, including add-ons,
according to multiple reports from Spain, Germany, and the transfer guru
himself, Fabrizio Romano, with Lewandowski refusing to negotiate with Chelsea
and Paris Saint-Germain, who were also interested in signing the 33-year-old
Poland captain, and Barcelona have reached an agreement on the transfer of
Polish striker Robert Lewandowski to the Catalan club.
Lewandowski had one year left on his contract with
Bayern Munich and had informed the German champions that he would not sign a
new one; Lewandowski will fly to Spain on Saturday for a medical before signing
a three-year contract; Julian Nagelsmann's side is interested in signing
Matthijs de Ligt.
On Saturday, he will fly to Spain for a medical
before signing a three-year contract with a 12-month extension option. The
Poland international had one year left on his contract with Bayern and had
informed the club that he would not be renewing it.
Until now, the German champions have maintained that
Lewandowski is not for sale, having turned down a €40 million (£33.8 million)
offer from Barcelona last month. According to Sky Italia, Lewandowski's
departure would help Bayern finance the signing of Matthijs de Ligt from
Juventus, who are asking for around €80 million (£67.7 million) plus bonuses.
According to the most reliable sources connected to both clubs, the deal has
been closed for 45 million euros, with an additional 5 million to be added.
Bayern Munich verbally accepted an increased offer
of up to €50 million (£42.5 million) for Robert Lewandowski, who will join
Barcelona this weekend. On Friday, negotiations broke down, with Bayern now
willing to let their star striker leave for a fee of up to €50 million,
including add-ons. Lewandowski signed a three-year contract with Barça after
agreeing to personal terms in February.
After expressing his desire to leave the Bundesliga
champions with a year left on his contract, the Pole was linked with Chelsea
and Paris Saint-Germain. Lewandowski, on the other hand, refused to talk about
a possible transfer to any other club and now appears to have secured his
desired move to the Camp Nou. Despite Xavi's reported financial difficulties,
Lewandowski's arrival will add to a busy summer of recruitment for Xavi's side.
Raphinha, a Brazilian winger, joined Franck Kessié and Andreas Christensen on
Friday, who were out of contract at AC Milan and Chelsea, respectively.
Lewandowski, who joined Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund in 2014, has
amassed an incredible record.
