A contender for the National Chairman position of the New Patriotic Party, Stephen Asamoah Boateng (Asabee) has alleged that his opponents are bribing delegates.

According to him, he knows those who are engaging in the illegality but will not mention names.

“I know them, they also know themselves so I will not mention names,” he stated. Asabee disclosed that he has given the delegates money to cater for their travel and transport (T&T). “I only gave them T&T three times-150, 150 and 100,” he said.He urged the delegates not to be swayed by the money being given to them, “Please stay focused. Remember 2024, you need a chairman that is focused” Asabee advised.

The distribution of funds to delegate voters at the recently concluded New Patriotic Party Delegates Conference in Accra had no effect on voters, who rejected John Boadu and his boy, Fuseini Abanga. On the youth front, Abanga, who was tipped as the favourite ahead of Salam Mustapha due to his lavish spending jamboree, was defeated by more than 60 votes. At the end of the day, Salam was elected National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, polling 255 votes to Abanga's 191.

Justin Kodua defeated John Boadu by over 300 votes, garnering over 2800 votes to John Boadu's over 2500 votes and heavy spending. According to sources, John Boadu allegedly shared thousands of cedis with delegates at the last minute in the hope of tipping the scales in his favour, but failed, whereas his boy Fuseini Abanga had been spending since the day he entered the youth contest. The pundits say Mr. Asamoah Boateng is in a two horse race with Mr. Stephen Ntim for the chairmanship of the party.

The party delegates hooted at him and Chairman Wontumi at the Accra conference venue, indicating his defeat. Among the reasons for the defeat are arrogance, a selective campaign, and a failure to assist the party's grassroots, among others. Many party members stated that they only witnessed John Boadu's humility at the conference venue. They had previously perceived him as arrogant and unapproachable. Party functionaries, including Members of Parliament and constituency executives, complain that John Boadu does not even pick up the phone or respond to messages.

Mr. Abanga made mining a central theme of his youth campaign, promising to introduce the youth to community mining while allegedly giving delegates GHC1000, GHC2000, and even GHC5000. According to reports, party members and delegates attributed John Boadu's defeat to a variety of factors, including his lack of respect for the party grassroots and his mafia tactics, among others.

At a time he refused to pick up party members' calls, it was annoying for Delegates that Afia Schwarzenegger had easy access to him than them. Afia said she called him when her beef with Wontumi started to ask him if he was not there when Wontumi offered her a job.

THE JOAN GAMPER TROPHY PITS FC BARCELONA AGAINST PUMAS UNAM.

The Joan Gamper Trophy, also known as the Joan Gamper Cup, was established in 1966, with the Blaugrana inviting Anderlecht from Belgium, Nantes from France, and Koln from Germany to the inaugural event. It had four participants until 1997 Barcelona and three other invitees and consisted of two semi-final ties, a third-place playoff, and a final. The Blaugrana won their first championship, defeating Cologne 3-1 in the final. Due to an increased fixture list, the Joan Gamper Trophy underwent changes in 1997, abandoning the previous format in favour of a one-off match style. Furthermore, there is no extra time in the competition, with a penalty shoot-out deciding the winner if the game is tied after 90 minutes. This tournament has drawn teams from all over the world, including fellow Spanish powerhouses Atletico Madrid and Valencia, as well as South American behemoths Boca Juniors, River Plate, and Santos. In 2017, Barcelona invited Chapecoense to the 52nd Joan Gamper Trophy...

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT APPLE'S NEW IPHONE 14 AND 14 PRO

iPhone 14 is only a few weeks away, but leaks have already revealed much of what to expect. According to early reports, the new handset will include significant new features, improvements, and the removal of some well-known design elements. The phone, along with a slew of other products, will be released by Apple in September. But here's everything we know about the iPhone 14, including a possible date for the big Apple event. According to numerous reports, Apple has finally removed the notch that is cut out of the top of the display in the new devices. Instead, all of the components that are hidden there, such as the facial recognition sensor and front-facing camera, could be placed in a small cutout at the top of the screen, allowing the display to extend all the way up. That redesign could be limited to Pro models only. Rumours suggest that regular iPhones will have the same notch as the iPhone 13. Otherwise, the design is expected to stay largely the same. There may be some tw...

WHY IS GHANA GOING TO THE IMF

Ghana's president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has authorised Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to begin formal discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to help the country's economy. According to a statement issued by the country's information ministry, the order follows a phone conversation between President Akufo-Addo and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, according to Graphic.com. "The cabinet indicated its support for the decision at a meeting on June 30th, 2022," the statement said on Friday, July 1. "The engagement with the IMF will seek to provide balance of payment support as part of a broader effort to accelerate Ghana's recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and, more recently, the Russia-Ukraine crisis." According to people familiar with the plan, Ghana has postponed this week's mid-term budget review until initial meetings with the International Monetary Fund for an economic programme are completed.
