Chelsea beat off Barca to win the Kounde race.

Sevilla defender Jules Kounde is set to become Chelsea’s third summer signing after beating off competition from Barcelona for the Frenchman, according to The Telegraph. The report claims the Blues have agreed to pay the Spanish side in the region of £55 million and have offered the 23-year-old a five-year contract. Chelsea are now extremely confident in signing Sevilla's Jules Kounde. London is aware. Barcelona is also interested in the 23-year-old, but the Catalan club is said to be unable to match the Blues' £55 million bid from earlier this week.

Chelsea and Sevilla agreed on a £55 million fee for Kounde earlier this week, with personal terms agreed on a few months ago. However, Barcelona is determined to hijack the deal, but they may be forced to give up because they are unable to match Chelsea's bid, according to a source at football.london. Chelsea will now try to finalise the Kounde deal as soon as possible before anything else changes. The French international is willing to relocate to London.

The LaLiga giants made a last-ditch effort to entice Kounde to join them after raising more funds with another rights sale on Thursday-but they were unable to compete with the Blues. According to multiple Spanish reports, Barcelona have accepted their fate in the race for Sevilla defender Jules Koundé and ruled out a transfer for the French international, who is now close to joining Chelsea.

Barça were given some hope on Thursday afternoon when Koundé decided to travel to Portugal with the Sevilla squad to give the Catalans a few extra hours to present a formal offer to the Andalusian club, but that proposal never arrived, and the Blaugrana will be unable to compete with Chelsea's bid for both the club and the player.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have offered Sevilla £55 million and a five-year contract to the player, which other reports claim will pay Koundé more than £50 million.

Chelsea are looking to sign Kounde to a five-year contract in order to strengthen their central defensive options. Following the departures of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, Thomas Tuchel is eager to bring in more centre-backs. The Blues have already signed Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli and are in talks with PSG about Presnel Kimpembe. RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol is also being considered.

THE JOAN GAMPER TROPHY PITS FC BARCELONA AGAINST PUMAS UNAM.

The Joan Gamper Trophy, also known as the Joan Gamper Cup, was established in 1966, with the Blaugrana inviting Anderlecht from Belgium, Nantes from France, and Koln from Germany to the inaugural event. It had four participants until 1997 Barcelona and three other invitees and consisted of two semi-final ties, a third-place playoff, and a final. The Blaugrana won their first championship, defeating Cologne 3-1 in the final. Due to an increased fixture list, the Joan Gamper Trophy underwent changes in 1997, abandoning the previous format in favour of a one-off match style. Furthermore, there is no extra time in the competition, with a penalty shoot-out deciding the winner if the game is tied after 90 minutes. This tournament has drawn teams from all over the world, including fellow Spanish powerhouses Atletico Madrid and Valencia, as well as South American behemoths Boca Juniors, River Plate, and Santos. In 2017, Barcelona invited Chapecoense to the 52nd Joan Gamper Trophy...

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT APPLE'S NEW IPHONE 14 AND 14 PRO

iPhone 14 is only a few weeks away, but leaks have already revealed much of what to expect. According to early reports, the new handset will include significant new features, improvements, and the removal of some well-known design elements. The phone, along with a slew of other products, will be released by Apple in September. But here's everything we know about the iPhone 14, including a possible date for the big Apple event. According to numerous reports, Apple has finally removed the notch that is cut out of the top of the display in the new devices. Instead, all of the components that are hidden there, such as the facial recognition sensor and front-facing camera, could be placed in a small cutout at the top of the screen, allowing the display to extend all the way up. That redesign could be limited to Pro models only. Rumours suggest that regular iPhones will have the same notch as the iPhone 13. Otherwise, the design is expected to stay largely the same. There may be some tw...

WHY IS GHANA GOING TO THE IMF

Ghana's president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has authorised Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to begin formal discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to help the country's economy. According to a statement issued by the country's information ministry, the order follows a phone conversation between President Akufo-Addo and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, according to Graphic.com. "The cabinet indicated its support for the decision at a meeting on June 30th, 2022," the statement said on Friday, July 1. "The engagement with the IMF will seek to provide balance of payment support as part of a broader effort to accelerate Ghana's recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and, more recently, the Russia-Ukraine crisis." According to people familiar with the plan, Ghana has postponed this week's mid-term budget review until initial meetings with the International Monetary Fund for an economic programme are completed. Finance Minis...
